World Wide Web(external link) inventor Tim Berners-Lee(external link) was named recipient of the first-ever Millennium Technology Prize(external link). In 1989 he invented the World Wide Web, an internet-based hypermedia initiative for global information sharing. while working at CERN(external link), the European Particle Physics Laboratory. He wrote the first web client (browser-editor) and server in 1990.

According to a new(external link) US Department of Energy road map, the top priorities for the next 20 years are: the Dark Energy Mission, the Linac Coherent Light Source, and a Protein Production and Tags Facility. The low priority for a new Linear Collider (13 in the list) is analysed on this(external link) New Scientist article.

First tetraquark meson observed?

Por: System Administrator  En: Mié 19 de Nov, 2003 09:36 -05  (1326 Lecturas)
Science-High-Energy-Physics
Until few months ago, all the meson were understood as being biquarks or triquarks states. However, in past June, the first exotic baryon, the pentaquark, was discovered(external link) in Japan and confirmed(external link) in US. Now the Belle(external link) collaboration at the KEK(external link) laboratory in Japan has discovered which seem to be a tetraquark(external link) ( charm/anti-charm and up/anti-up)

Observation of Bell Inequality violation in B mesons

Por:   En: Lun 10 de Nov, 2003 10:57 -05  (1042 Lecturas)
Science-High-Energy-Physics
The famous Bell's inequality of quantum mechanics has been tested in a high-energy particle physics experiment for the first time. The inequality was violated by three standard deviations in experiments with B mesons at the KEK laboratory in Japan
