Theoretical physicists win massive awards

Internet entrepreneur Yuri Milner's Fundamental Physics Prize Foundation has selected nine researchers to receive US$3 million each. Here is the foundation's list of the winners: Nima Arkani-Hamed?, Alan Guth, Alexei Kitaev, Maxim Konstevich, Andrei Linde, Juan Maldacena (Argentina), Nathan Seiberg, Ashoke Sen, and Edward Witten.

    The $3 million has already appeared in Dr. Guth’s bank account, one that had had a balance of $200. “Suddenly, it said, $3,000,200,” he said. “The bank charged a $12 wire transfer fee, but that was easily affordable.”
